Choosing the Right Lenses
Finding the right contact lenses should not feel intimidating. Our team takes the guesswork out of the process by working with you 1-on-1 to discover the best fit. We look at more than just your prescription, considering your eye health, daily activities, and comfort preferences.
Whether you are active, spend hours on digital devices, or have unique vision needs, we will match you with lenses that support your lifestyle and help you see clearly every day.
Who Might Need Specialty Contact Lenses?
Specialty contact lenses are designed for people who may not be able to wear standard contacts or those who might not enjoy wearing them.
For example, some people have corneal conditions that prevent conventional lenses from sitting comfortably on the surface of their eyes. Specialty lenses may be a better option if you have unique vision challenges or eye conditions such as:
- Dry eye
- Corneal scarring
- Strabismus
- Keratoconus
- Eye injuries
- Thin corneas
Types of Specialty Contact Lenses
Not all eyes are the same, and not everyone can achieve clear, comfortable vision with standard soft contact lenses. That is where specialty contact lenses come in. These lenses are designed to address unique eye conditions, corneal shapes, or comfort challenges that make traditional lenses difficult to wear.
During your contact lens exam, we carefully evaluate your vision needs, corneal health, and lifestyle to determine whether specialty lenses are the right choice for you.
From modern designs that improve clarity for irregular corneas to moisture-rich options that provide relief for dry eye, specialty contact lenses can open the door to sharper vision and all-day comfort.
Rigid Gas-Permeable (RGP) lenses
RGP lenses are made from a special material that helps oxygen reach the surface of your eyes. This helps keep your eyes hydrated and comfortable. These lenses can be an excellent option for people with dry eye.
RGP lenses are more rigid than soft lenses, which helps keep them stable and secure on the eyes, allowing you to enjoy sharper vision. They can also help your cornea maintain its shape, which helps minimize the effects of an abnormally shaped cornea.
Scleral Lenses
Scleral lenses are larger in diameter, with 3 different sizes depending on your specific needs. They are also different in that they vault over the surface of the cornea rather than touching it, leaving a space between the front surface of the eye and the back of the contact lens.
Scleral lenses can be a good choice for those with dry eye and corneal abnormalities. The space created by the gap between your cornea and the lens can trap moisture to help keep your eyes hydrated, and that space also accommodates many corneal abnormalities, such as the bulge associated with keratoconus.
Myopia Management (MiSight)
MiSight contact lenses are soft, daily disposable lenses designed specifically for children with myopia (nearsightedness). These innovative lenses use dual-focus technology, which allows your child to see clearly at all distances while also slowing the progression of myopia.
This means fewer prescription changes over time and a reduced risk of future eye health complications related to high myopia, such as retinal detachment or glaucoma.
MiSight lenses are comfortable, easy to use, and provide parents with peace of mind knowing they are helping protect their child’s long-term vision health.
Limbal Fit Lenses
Limbal contact lenses fall between rigid gas-permeable lenses and scleral varieties in terms of their size. Their larger overall diameter helps to increase their stability on the surface of your eyes.
They can also offer minimal interference with the eyelids, which helps support your comfort and vision clarity.
Hybrid Lenses
Hybrid contact lenses are a combination of both soft and gas-permeable contact lenses. The middle part is made from rigid gas-permeable material, helping give the lens greater stability and enhanced clarity for your vision. The RGP portion of the lens also helps trap moisture between your cornea and the lens, keeping your eye hydrated.
The outer edge of hybrid lenses is a soft lens skirt. This means that you don’t have to deal with the hard edges associated with RGP lenses, which may be uncomfortable.

Clear, comfortable vision is possible for almost everyone with the right lenses. Whether you’re new to contacts, have struggled with comfort in the past, or need a specialty option for unique eye conditions, our team is here to guide you.
